Muay Thai classes at London Grapple teach a complete stand-up fighting system for competition, MMA and self-defence.

Often referred to as "Thai boxing," Muay Thai is a martial art and combat sport originating from Thailand. It is known for its rigorous and dynamic use of eight points of contact—the fists, elbows, knees, and shins—as opposed to the four points (fists and feet) used in traditional boxing and other striking martial arts. This is why Muay Thai is often called "the art of eight limbs."

Muay Thai requires a different type of fitness than ground grappling. It is a great way to build a strong cardiovascular base while improving your explosive power and agility—all the while having a lot of fun along the way.

What you’ll learn

Our Muay Thai classes focus on the fundamentals of striking, including footwork, defence, the mechanics of throwing strikes (punches, kicks, knees and elbows) and clinch work (standing grappling with strikes). These classes don’t include any ground grappling.

In each class, expect a mixture of pad work, drills for attack & defence and optional live sparring:

  • Fundamental - these are the best place to start for beginners, as well as intermediate-advanced athletes looking to sharpen up on the ‘basics’

  • Mixed - suitable for all levels from fundamental-advanced, with an emphasis on more complex techniques and principles (optional, supervised live sparring will be included in these sessions)

  • Sparring - our Thursday evening mixed-level class concludes with thirty minutes of (optional) supervised live sparring rounds - participation in any sparring is at the coach’s discretion

Our Muay Thai classes are designed to be engaging and affordable.

We believe in providing high-quality training without breaking the bank, so you can enjoy the benefits of learning Muay Thai for just £80 per month (students) or £105 per month (adults).

No joining fee or long-term commitments.

Kit & Apparel

We don’t have equipment to lend (it’s not very hygienic!). You will need to bring your own: mouth guard, boxing gloves (12-16oz), shin pads (soft ‘sock-style’ or ‘Thai style’), head guard, and groin guards (optional).
